Chancel Choir

The Bible tells us to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord" (Psalm 100:1), to "sing to the Lord a new song" (Psalm 98:1).  The Bible even tells us that Jesus and his disciples sang together (Matthew 26:30).

Join us in leading the congregation in worship!  We have a wonderful choir and a great music program here at First Church.  We concentrate on the classics ... Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart ... but we also love to explore the spirituals, gospel, and contemporary music.  Chancel Choir sings every Sunday from Labor Day thru mid-June.  We rehearse Wednesday evenings at 7:30, and Sunday mornings at 9:30.

We are always receptive to new members!  There are no membership requirements other than a reliable commitment to attend most rehearsals.  You don't need a solo-quality voice, or any training in music.  You need only be receptive to learn and sing a part in tune.  Chancel Choir is directed by Brent Peterson.

Wesley Bell Choir

The Wesley Bell Choir, under the expert guidance of church member “Princess Becky” Combs, performs several times during the year including Christmas and Easter. Wesley Bell Choir provides an important link to our community, continuing a long-running association with the annual Las Posadas festival at Mission San Jose. Membership is open to all ages by audition.

Our New Organ

Members, visitors, and friends at First Church cannot help but noticing our beautiful new Allen “Quantum Renaissance” organ!  This instrument recreates four separate organ schools (Neo-Baroque, French Romantic, English Cathedral, and American Classic) with breathtaking realism. Having heard great pipe organs all over the U.S., England, and Germany (and even played a few of them) ... I am still in awe of our new Allen.  It is absolutely stunning.  Many thanks to all those whose generous gifts made it possible.
