Abode Services (formerly Tri-City Homeless Coalition)
Meets the needs of the homeless population in the Tri-City area through transitional shelter for families and singles, transitional housing for families, mobile outreach to the homeless on the streets, and help in finding and keeping jobs. Each fall, First Church provides back-to-school backpacks for children living at the transitional shelter.

We are also helping with their Rapid Re-housing Home Warming Program. The goal is to place homeless families into housing.  Churches in the area are partnering with Abode Services by paying the first month’s rent and related costs and providing essential furnishings to give the families a good start. We are currently working with a family to be housed in December 2011 or January 2012. Please contact Martha Crowe or call the church office if you would like to help.

More about the program

Tri-City Volunteers
A multi-emergency center providing food, clothing, furniture and household items to people in need. Each Sunday during the services, we collect food items to be donated to their Food Bank. We also occasionally donate clothing. Some items, such as canned fruit cups, go into box lunches prepared for the homeless by a local church.

Windsor Country Drive Care Center
A nursing home in Fremont for the elderly and persons recovering from injuries. We offer a very popular bingo game to the residents on Wednesday evenings. These bingo games provide much needed diversion and entertainment as well as some coordination exercise for the elderly and chronically ill residents.

For 9 years First Church provided a Worship Service for all residents the first Sunday of each month. We're currently taking a break from that ministry.

South County Creative Living Center
The CLC is a "clubhouse", providing an alternative to costly, long-term institutional care for adults who have difficulty living independently. It fosters a sense of home, belonging and mutual support. Day classes are taught by teachers from Fremont Adult School. The classes taught are self-esteem, money management, job preparation classes, independent living skills, nutrition and exercise. The church provides support for their bowling program.
